Milagu Kashayam for Cold and Cough

Ingredients :

Water - 1 cup
Black pepper powder(Milagu)(freshly powdered) - 1/2 teaspoon
Coriander Powder (dhaniya)(freshly powdered) - 1/2 teaspoon
Cumin powder(Jeeragam)(freshly powdered) - 1/2 teaspoon
Panang karkandu(palm sugar candy) - 1 teaspoon
Thulasi - 4 - 5 leaves

Preparation Method :
  1. Take water in a vessel.
  2. Add the pepper powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and let it boil until the water reduces to 3/4 th of its content.
  3. Add the panankalkandu and thulasi and let it boil for 1 minute.
  4. Switch off the stove.
  5. Kashayam is ready.
  6. Strain the kashayam to remove the pulp settled at the bottom.
  7. For children more panankalkandu can be added.
  8. This kashayam has to be consumed when it is in tolerable heat as that will soothe the throat.
  9. This kashayam can be consumed one time a day when affected with cold and cough.
  10. Pepper is a good reliever of cold and cough.
