Cinnamon(Pattai) - Best 2 Home Remedies for Cold and Sore throat

Cinnamon (Pattai in Tamil) is a most liked spice because of its aromatic flavor and smell. It is not only used in cooking recipes but also used for some simple home remedies to try at home. It is very effective in curingcommon cold and sore throat due to common cold and can be given for children and adults.

Cinnamon and Honey for Cold and Sore Throat

Method 1
  1. Take a piece of cinnamon and powder it finely.
  2. In a small bowl , take a teaspoon of pure honey.
  3. Mix 1/2 a teaspoon for adults and 1/4 teaspoon for children under 12 of cinnamon powder with honey.
  4. Reduce the amount of cinnamon if given for infants.
  5. Mix it well until you get a thick paste like consistency.
  6. Either it can be consumed as it is for sore throat and common cold.
  7. It can also be mixed with 1/2 a glass of warm water and consumed.
  8. This can be consumed twice a day.
  9. This will be effective for cold, cough and other sinus related problems.
Method 2
  1. For sore throat , take a cup of hot water. 
  2. Mix 1/2 a teaspoon of cinnamon powder. Mix it well and heat it for 2 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and wait till it reaches luke warm temperature.
  4. Then add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and a teaspoon of honey.
  5. Mix it well.
  6. Consume this to get relieved from sore throat.
  7. This can be consumed twice or thrice a day.
